First text editor I learned on Linux, and my primary programming editor until 2008. Under-rated. Does everything I need for a quick terminal editing session (especially on a remote server), and loads quite a bit faster than emacs.

Easy to install; easy to learn; has almost all the features I want, without having to hack elisp. My terminal editor of choice.
