I used EMACS (TECO on Chip&/orDale, DEC TOPS-20 machines) in my first comp sci course at University of Chicago in Winter Quarter 1984. Really.
Also used Gosling's EMACS on a Pyramid to pretty much automate my third-shift production expeditor's job away at the UofC computation center from late 1984-86. While smoking baseball-bat cigars. And eating pizza for breakfast. :-)
I've got a couple of EMACsen on my MBP, but I don't use 'em, 'cause I don't code. (Never could, really...)
