1982–1983
My first encounter with programming was in LOGO. It was in a second grade gifted and talented course in Phoenix, AZ (Desert Horizon Elementary, yo!).
1983–1987
My dad bought the family a Commodore Vic 20, and then later a Commodore 128 and that's what I poked around on in the early days.
1984–1987
This was the second language I started playing with on my Commodore Vic 20. This was all kid-coder experiments, nothing fancy.
1986–1989
Once I got into middle school we were able to get on the Apple II machines and do some simple programs.
1991–1993
All of my high school programming courses (both of them) were taught in VAX Basic. What fun that was...
1995–1996
I only used Turbo Pascal for a few CS courses in college (until I changed my major to Creative Writing, like a sensible person).
2004–
I still work in the BASH shell every day, and BASH scripting is a part of daily life.
