1986–1989
My first programming experience, on my friend's Atari 800. Beautiful.
1987–1988
We had Apple ][e's at my primary school. I was too young to fall in love.
1989–1992
My first computer, an XT clone came with a copy of Turbo Pascal 4. My father was adamant I learn a 'proper language'. Turbo Pascal is your ugly cousin who inappropriately rubs her knees against you at dinner.
1990–1993
We had BBC micros when I started at high school. She was the only girl at school who would talk to me.
1996–
I first learned about Awk in Dave Taylor's 'Teach Yourself Unix in a week'. Once I knew about her, I had to have her.
1996–
Started using her for what was then called 'DHTML' and now is just called HTML. She is all talk no action.
1996–
I have used BASH every day since I installed Slackware '96. Possibly my one true love.
1997–
Pike is a harsh mistress, but boy is she athletic.
1998–2000
For a while there I was seduced by the dark side, but she doesn't know how to treat you right.
2002–2006
I had an intense but furtive affair with XSLT. In the end she dumped me for HTML5. Bitch.
2003–2004
My sugar-mistress for a while there.
2005
Python and I spent a little time together, but we knew we weren't right for each other.
2005
Tcl hit on me, but I spurned her affections.
2006
She was always trying to take our relationship to 'the next level'. I guess I'm just a higher-level kind of guy.
2008–
I write Ruby every day. She is my newest flame, and is a seductive and busty mistress.
